Harlow Brass Band - Second Place in Oxford Entertainments Contest

The Harlow Brass Band formed in the nineteenth century has just competed at a Brass Band Entertainment Contest in Woodstock Nr Oxford, organised by The Oxford District Brass Band Association.

This is the first time the band has entered a competition for over 10 years, under the Musical Direction of Chris Johnston who took up the role earlier this year.

The Band achieved a fantastic result winning second prize, also Roy Frost Cornet Soloist was awarded The Best Soloist in the section, and Daniel Andrews was awarded The Best Percussionist of the day!

A wonderful achievement from a great team of people.

Harlow Brass Band are always on the lookout for new players, and to improve and play to their very best. Rehearsals are every Thursday evening 8-10pm.

Harlow enter a contest!

I am pleased to announce that Harlow Brass Band are entering the ODBBA Entertainment Contest in October 2013.

After over a 10 year gap from Contesting this is a sign that Harlow Brass Band are moving forward.

Any un registered BBb Bass players would be welcome to assist if available.

However we are nearly up to a full compliment and all the Band are looking forward to it.

Welcome to the new MD


Harlow Brass band and delighted to announce the appointment of a new Musical Director - Mr. Chris Johnston.

Mr. Johnston has many years experience, after learning to play the cornet at the age of six.

He has been musical director and band master for several bands in the past, as well as a player, most recently as solo Euphonium for Raunds Band in Kettering.

We would like to welcome him and look forward to working with him.

Bye bye David!


We recently said a sad farewell to our MD Mr David Sylvester at our spring concert. We would like to thank him for his dedication and commitment to the band over the years he has been our MD. We wish him well and hope he enjoys his much earned retirement.

Under the direction of Mr Johnston we are now preparing for our summer events
We have started to accept bookings for a variety of fetes and occasions through out the summer months.
